Dr Amit Sen started his session on – ‘Your Children-Our Assets’ by reminding parents that every child is unique, deserving our love as well as understanding. Children look up to their parents and try to emulate them. If parents expect honesty from their children, they need to make sure that they are just as honest with their children.
Children must have all the privilege and the freedom to enjoy their childhood. Children must be allowed ‘to do their own thing’ because doing is learning. Dr Amit Sen went on to say that if we give the best of love and care to children during their formative years, they will return it manifold. Parents need to recognise the needs of their children. Parents are larger than life figures for their children. Both positive and negative actions of parents are greatly magnified in the eyes of their children. The counselling ended with a question and answer session. The positive response to the counselling session ensured that this will become a regular feature
The new session started with a Workshop April 7, 2014 Pre-Primary and Nursery teachers. Mrs. Rani Radhakrishnan, an experienced teacher and an educational consultant conducted the session. She emphasised that neither the teacher nor the parent can groom a child all by themselves. It is when both the parent and teacher join hands that children can reach their full potential. The passion needed to prepare a child for the future is only possible when school and home come together.
Mrs. Radhakrishnan discussed experiential learning and the importance of weaving the students’ daily lives into the learning process. She also demonstrated various practical and simple ways in which teachers can use these techniques. All the workshop participants went away motivated to implement all that they had learnt.
